Material Goods

Pay attention, my people, to what I have to say
This is a very sad fact that I will never forget:

There was a citizen too greedy,
Only thought about power and material goods.

He had a wife who was unloved and a son named Juninho,
To whom he paid little attention and never showed affection!

The father ignored the family and only thought about money
Had no fixed abode or whereabouts.

Many times the mother beside her little son
Spent Christmas, birthdays, and other days alone.

The son sometimes cried wanting to find his father
And the mother always said, trying to console him
Your father is working to give us more comfort!

The father always traveling across this Brazilian land
Didn't care about the consequences
To earn his money.

One time he earned a good amount of money
Bought the imported car he had always dreamed of
And after a while, he came back to his family.

He arrived home driving his car
And immediately showed off to his family
It was a luxury car, the color of the sky
That he showed to everyone as if it were a trophy.

The son, missing his father, approached
But he didn't pay attention, didn't even look at his son.

The man only talked about the car, almost like a madman
After some time, he decided to rest a bit.

The father went to sleep and the boy stayed awake
Looking at that car, he saw some dirt on the side.

In the innocence of a child, wanting to help his father,
He took a bucket of water to wash the car
Took a steel scrubber and started scrubbing.

Then, with simplicity, he ran to wake up his father!

The man, seeing the car all scratched,
Looked like a ferocious and uncontrollable animal
And like a madman who doesn't know what he's doing
Started hitting the boy's little hands.

The mother locked in a room couldn't help her son
Seeing the father punishing the boy with so much hatred!

The father, showing cruelty, prevented and didn't allow
The mother to seek help for her crying son.

Three days passed of felt suffering
Until the father went to fix the car and the son could be
attended to.

The doctor gave the sad news to hear
Mother, we will have to amputate your son's little hand!

In shock, the mother was hospitalized
And on that same day, the son's surgery was scheduled.

Days passed and the father was notified
The news left the man completely desperate.
He ran to the hospital where his son was admitted.

When he saw his son, with the amputated hand, he started to cry.
The boy hugged him and tried to console his father.

In the innocence of a child, he began to speak to his father:
"Daddy, I will never make you cry again,
Because I no longer have my little hand to scratch your car!"

The man ran away not knowing what to do
With so much pain and remorse, he didn't want to live anymore.

There was no solution, no other way.
He then took a gun and without thinking
shot himself in the chest.

That shot took his life in a few moments
Of a selfish, cowardly, and ignorant man!

I finish this sad story and hope not to see others like it.
And I leave here a message for children and parents:
"In life, there are things more important than material goods!"
