Paths of Life

Paths of Life

Eleven years on the road, fulfilling my journey; with the truck
traveling.
On one of these trips, I felt tired, stopped at a gas station
to rest!

It was already dawn when an angel woke me up
Entrusting me with a freight that Saint Christopher determined
You're going to Holambra, to load in the city of flowers...
You can rest assured that I'll let you know when the truck is
loaded
You're going to travel to heaven!

At that moment, he said, go, everything is ready and you can't
delay!
You don't even need an assistant, but take this recorder, I know
you'll need it.

When I arrived in heaven, many people were waiting for me!
They were shouting:
Look at the Morada truck, let's talk to the driver:

Everyone wanted to tell their sorrow, their pain;
That's when I understood, the reason for the recorder:
To record messages of peace and bring them to this dreamy
people!

I started forming a line to avoid chaos
Toninho Boiadeiro, Renato Cordeiro, and Gilberto Preto
Had to help me!

A smiling young woman asked: let me speak first!
I recognized Beto Belentano's truck, I saw the sign;
My father worked with you, I'm André Monteiro's daughter!

Then a man with teary eyes asked to tell his story
Another shouted from the back, be quick, the recorder tape
might run out!

I had a dump 113, worked in the region of Piracicaba,
Rio das Pedras, and Mombuca, until one day I was murdered
on the sugar highway.

Another truck driver showed me a deep sign on his hands and
feet
He always traveled alone, see how it is
Until one day I loaded, in Tuneiras D' Oeste in Paraná, a
load of coffee
Destined for São Paulo, the city of Avaré
Cargo theft, gang leaves no trace, takes the cargo
And most of the time the driver's life.

Now a tall young man with blue eyes arrives, I noticed by his
accent
I want to tell my past:
I stopped to change a flat tire, innocently I didn't
realize
Two men behind me, heavily armed,
One was talking on the phone, the other kept me lying down.
In their eyes, hatred was evident
It's true, I'm not lying, I even heard the shot of the 765
When the trigger was pulled!

Another asked me to record his story:
By his strong accent, he was a caboclo from the north
He carried a hammock on his shoulder and a towel around his
neck
I asked for silence, let's listen to this man!

My friends, see how I used to do it:
For me, the day was night and the night was day!
I loaded in the Northeast and arrived in São Paulo, chilling
the cold camera.
A 48-hour trip I made in my 16-18 in 38!
But it was on Rio Bahia, in the early hours of a certain day,
the end of my story, sir!

They called me a compatriot, I hugged them both and felt like
crying.
One of them crying said:
We traveled happily, everything was wonderful,
Suddenly a head-on collision, everything ended on Belém/Brasília.

The news arrived immediately, people didn't want to believe...
The city of Borborema, in the interior of São Paulo
was paralyzed for three days, waiting for us to arrive,
People were moved to see what was left of Ninão and Dito Araçá!

Next, a smiling dark-skinned man arrived
And stopping in front of me said, record a message for me:
I ask for calm from the drivers, accidents are still common,
I also lost my life, on the Bandeirantes highway!
I don't even remember the speed I was going,
after all, it was a BMW, the car I was driving!

Tell my friend to continue his mission, because every time he
sings there;
I accompany him from here in the chorus!

There's even a studio here for us, I'll record with Pardinho;
I don't match voices with Tião Carreiro!
Evaldo Braga, Moraci, Duduca, Jessé, João Pacífico,
Cezar Rossini, Gonzagão and Gonzaguinha, Xavantinho
Barrerito, Sandro, Leandro, Belmonte, and Zilo
They also sing with us,
we make a mix of voices, in different duets!

Outside the line, I noticed a joy as if playing like a child,
I gave a strong hug, it was the drover João Palestino!

A short man gesturing is approaching.
It's a man who has been singing here in heaven for a long time!

At that moment, I said: Do I know you?
He said: Kid, I don't think so, because when I came here
you were still a boy!
I take this opportunity to ask for a current favor,
for you to fulfill a wish of mine:
I know you are the way, ask Negrão to play my song
on Ratinho's Show!
That guy is cool, he keeps people in line.
Thank him for us and send a hug from the gaucho Teixeirinha!

Then I received a note from a polite gentleman, which said:
On your next trip, bring a photo of Itápolis for me
There's a street there with the same name as mine
I planted some trees there, I want to see if they've grown!
I hugged Zé Fortuna, my heart ached.

The tape was running out,
when someone in a white suit with a microphone in hand said:
Cowboy da Estrada, let me give you a tight hug
I recognized him, it was Zé do Prato, a passionate announcer!
And he said:
This microphone belonged to Marco Brasil, but now it's mine;
He came to narrate a rodeo here in heaven and gave me a
keepsake!

Zé do Prato had a bunch of prayers in his hand and said this
to me
Deliver these prayers to these great friends:
Jorge Moisés, Ivan Diniz, Piracicabano, Barra Mansa, Lalau dos
Santos,
Alan Coelho, Donizete Alves, Asa Branca, Capixaba, Sebastião
Ribeiro Chá!
This one is for Juliano Cesar, for him to keep in his hat
Because he always says that I'm the announcer here in heaven.

Beto, this one is special,
Deliver it to the guy who told a dream and the whole world
heard,
This one is for Marco Brasil:
Marco Brasil, from the rodeo you did here, people still miss
you;
Your funny verses, one angel starts speaking, the other
continues
They even asked me to imitate you, I don't know if I'll be able
to
It's not my style, I have nothing rehearsed, let's see what
will happen:
Hello, hello my passionate people,
Hello my people, hey, hey, hey!!!

And like that, with this fading voice, I woke up startled;
in the truck's cab with a wet pillow.
But soon the shock and sadness were replaced by joy
I remembered those messages and hope arose
I have to tell everyone:
In the form of this poem narrated by Marco Brasil!
