Ti Ho Voluto Bene Veramente
Marco Mengoni
I Really Loved You
So I set off on a long journey
Away from the mistakes and wrongs I've made
I visited places so I wouldn't have to see you again
And the further I got, the better I felt
And it was snowing a lot but I kept walking
Sometimes I lit a fire thinking of you in the cold
Daydreaming on the deck of a ferry
I thought I saw your reflection in the sea
The lights in the harbor seemed far away
And I felt happy to land
My face changed, my beard grew
I spent whole days without saying a word
And how much I wanted you to be there in that moment
Because I really loved you
And there's no place where you don't come to mind
I really wanted to have you
And not hear that I can't do anything about it
I would have found many more answers
If I had asked you but it doesn't matter
And I can't do it now that you're so far away
I would feel like telling you that the journey changes a man
And the starting point seems so far away now
The destination is not a place but what we feel
And we don't know where or when we'll get there
I spent whole days without saying a word
I thought you were really far away
If only we knew before we set off
That the sense of the journey and the destination is the call
Because I really loved you
And there's no place where you don't come to mind
I really wanted to have you
And not hear that I can't do anything about it
I would have found many more answers
If I had asked you but it doesn't matter
And I can't do it now that you're so far away
I can't do it now
