Sei Lá

I Don't Know
If God's gaze was like a man's gaze
He would have killed David for plotting
The death of Uriah just to have his wife
Breaking the commandment and acting in bad faith
Yet God still forgave him
If by Moses' law they stoned that woman
Caught in adultery by the Pharisees
All those men, after stoning her
Would be condemned by Jesus with his gaze
He already knew each one of them was a sinner
But God's gaze is one that expresses love
Otherwise, he wouldn't have forgiven
Peter who denied him three times when the rooster crowed
I don't know, a love like that I'll never find
To give his own life just to save me
Understanding and accepting me just the way I am
I don't know, a man is different by his judgment
And no matter how hard he tries, he'll never see
The faults of his fellow man with God's gaze
If God's gaze was like a man's gaze
I wouldn't be here, you wouldn't be there
But it's not the human gaze that will condemn us
I don't know, it can't even be compared
