El Payaso

The Clown
He was able to make a child laugh endlessly,
had such brilliant ideas, only he could do it.
His face painted in colors and a violin in his hand,
which played more or less but made people laugh.
And the truth is, deep down he was unhappy,
he found it ridiculous to paint his nose,
a somersault looked much better
and he wanted to be a tightrope walker
and hear ovations in the ring
instead of so much laughter.
He never knew how to accept his position, without realizing
that he made so many happy in his role as Cinderella.
That if one day he was missing from the circus, it would come to an end
that it would never be the same without his violin.
But he was still determined to be unhappy,
he felt so ridiculous with his nose painted,
he still dreamed of the trapeze,
he pretended to be a tightrope walker
and hear ovations in the ring
instead of so much laughter.
It was a white, wintry morning, after rehearsal,
he couldn't resist it anymore, he climbed onto the crossbar,
and seeing himself up high
he felt vertigo rise to his throat,
and they hadn't put up the safety nets the last time...
he barely felt anything when he fell,
the tamer, who was returning, was the first to see him.
He managed to save his life and a month later they told him:
"It's all over, the circus has closed,
no more children came to the show."
Today he lives retired in some place, on the outskirts,
stuck day and night to his wheelchair,
it seems he has finally accepted himself,
that sometimes he even plays the violin.
Ten children visit him and make him happy,
when he sees them coming from afar, he paints his nose.
And when someone mocks him with disdain, he replies:
"I would be a wretch, I would be the guilty one,
if I didn't fulfill the mission I received.
Because even though I was a failure,
I am a professional clown,
don't judge me badly, God made me this way.
