Right there at the door of a bakery
Among the customers appeared a dog
It was very thin and without pedigree
Started barking rolling on the ground
It almost seemed like the poor dog
Was asking for help and also compassion
That insensitive, atheist baker
Paid no attention to the dog

The dog feeling like it had no chance
To get a snack, took action
Gritting its teeth, faced the baker
And with a precise leap, jumped on the counter
Using the instinct of mother nature
Stole half a loaf of bread from the tray
In a quick glance, running away
And soon disappeared turning the corner

The young baker was outraged
Said indignantly: I'll catch you
Dog without an owner, thief, scoundrel
Tomorrow at the same time, I know you'll be back

And the next day the dog returned
Took another bread from the same place
That baker in a banal gesture
Shot to kill that animal
The first shot hit the neck
And the other in the face of the poor animal
Who ran away, but was pursued
By the enraged baker after all
Who saw the dog arriving dragging itself
Carrying in its mouth the stolen food
For an orphan boy
Who was sick in the dock

And seeing the dog dying and whimpering
Handing the food to the boy
That baker couldn't believe
That the stolen bread was for sustenance
Of that hungry boy
And the man cried at that moment
Seeing the dog die with no way out
To save the life of someone in the cold

And that baker knelt down
And hugged the boy with so much agony
Crying, asked forgiveness from the Lord
For the lack of love and his cowardice
That baker was redeemed
And adopted the boy and said
I will return to being a Christian because I was a profane
The dog was more humane than I was one day
