The shadow
Lurks on the surface
Like a whisper
On the wall
And covers what exists
It's like a wind
A heartbeat
That never touches
You know it well
But it only comes
When you look back

The shadow follows
Sucks up what you can't see
Like a web
It runs through your veins
Won't let you forget
It drives you crazy
Numbs you if it lets you cover
It disappears
When it grows
The light invades you

It follows its path
Knows it's alone
Inside this nest
That you cared for
It walks and doesn't peek
The shadow it creates
And the loom that weaves
The life that has passed

The shadow
Feels and dries
What overflowed
If it touches you
It calls you
When it sees you awake
And it moves
Grows like a plague
Like weeds on the ground
Don't be alarmed
For it dresses you
And takes you to the darkness

It enters the path
Oh so slowly
Comes in quietly
Soon it leans in
Like someone who inspires
