Party
Red sun is beautiful to see
New moon up high, what beauty
Sky of clean blue is nature
In a vision that brings much pleasure
But the beauty for me is the gray sky
With a glow singing its refrain
Foretelling that brings solace
Of the arrival of rains in the backlands
Seeing the cracked earth softening
The previously poor land enriching
The corn pointing to the sky
The beans sprawling on the ground
And then during the harvest, what joy
Seeing the whole people in a volcano
The black folks falling into revelry
Forgetting their sorrows without a care
Beautiful is Recife catching fire
In the rhythm of the maracatu
