Lisboa e o Tejo
Maria da Fé
Lisbon and the Tagus
Lisbon also has a boyfriend
And also gets jealous, like us
Lisbon, when in pain, sings fado
With a sad sob in her voice
Lisbon is a delicate girlfriend
Vain and proud to be like that
Lisbon sometimes sulks
If her love doesn't offer her love
She calls him a sailor, talks about him in the street
And feels jealous of the Moon's eyes
She calls him a sailor with no direction or route
Always chasing after the wings of a seagull
He blows her a kiss in a wave
And so Lisbon and the Tagus date
Lisbon has quarrels with her boyfriend
If she sees him making eyes at the stars
And then she goes to the viewpoint
Lest the devil starts trouble
Lisbon, when going down a hill
To date him, she dresses up
Lisbon wears a fishwife's skirt
To hear the compliments he throws
