La Vaca Estudiosa
María Elena Walsh
The Studious Cow
Once upon a time there was a cow
In the Humahuaca ravine
As she was very old, very old
She was deaf in one ear
And even though she was already a grandmother
One day he wanted to go to school
He put on some red shoes
Tulle gloves and a pair of glasses
The teacher saw her scared
And he said: You are wrong
And the cow answered him
Why can't I study?
The cow dressed in white
He sat down on the first bench
We boys threw chalk
And we were dying of laughter
People left very curious
Let's see the studious cow
People arrived in trucks
On bicycles and in planes
And as the commotion increased
At school nobody studied
The cow standing in a corner
She was ruminating on the lesson alone
One day all the boys
We became donkeys
And in that place of Humahuaca
The only wise one was the cow
And in that place of Humahuaca
The only wise one was the cow
