A História de Lily Braun
Maria Gadú
The Story of Lily Braun
Like in a novel
The man of my dreams
Appeared to me at the dance hall
He was just another one
But in a glance
His eyes sucked me in
Like a zoom
He devoured me
With those eyes
That could eat a photograph
I said cheese
And from close-up to close-up
I lost my composure
And even smiled, happy
And he came back
Offered me a drink
Called me a blue angel
My vision
Was getting blurry since then
Like in the movies
He would sometimes send me
A rose and a poem
Spotlight
I, like a gem
Melting completely
To the sound of the blues
He abused the scotch
Said my body
Was only his that night
I said please
Shawl on the neckline
I shot with flushed and feverish cheeks
And he came back
At the final show
With ten poems and a bouquet
I said goodbye
I'm leaving with mine
On a tour
Like loving a wife
He said that now
He only loved me as a wife
Not as a star
He crushed the roses
Burned the photos
Kissed me at the altar
Never again romance
Never again cinema
Never again a drink at the dance hall
Never again cheese
Never a dive bar
A rose never
Never again happy
Never again romance
Never again cinema
Never again a drink at the dance hall
Never again cheese
Never a dive bar
A rose never
Never again happy
