A horse was running
A horse was jumping
A horse was leaping
From bank to bank, it was fleeing
From meadow to meadow, it taunted us
{vocalizations}
The king of France saw it
And the king desired it
Like one desires to dance
Like one desires luck
Like one desires to be happy

Out of fear, the grand chamberlain
The marquises and even the last of the courtiers
Throughout the country, there was only one cry:
Catch the horse!
But the horse was running
But the horse was jumping
But the horse was leaping
From bank to bank, it was fleeing
From meadow to meadow, it taunted us
{vocalizations}
The king of France, out of breath
But the king, exasperated
Ordered the chamberlain
To order the courtiers
To order the peasants
To kill the horse
{vocalizations}
Out of fear, the grand chamberlain
The marquises and even the last of the courtiers
Throughout the country, there was only one cry:
Finish off the horse!
But the night became so dark
The horse was so white
That it disappeared
In a moonbeam in the depth of summer
The moral of the story
Is that even a king of France
Cannot catch
Luck when it doesn't want to stop
And since that time
Most people
Let the horse escape

And the horse will run
The horse will jump
And the horse will leap
From centuries to centuries, it will flee
From you to me, it will pass
