Alzame en tus brazos
Mario Battistella
Lift Me in Your Arms
When you come down to earth
to take my soul away,
among your white feathers
speckled with brilliance.
I'll sing just for you
with a sweet melody,
the tenderest and purest song
I've ever sung to love.
I've dreamed of your kisses,
a thousand dreams cradling,
I dreamed of the hope
of being able to touch you.
But so humbly,
like one who is begging,
the gaze of the virgin
with fear of defiling.
Closing my eyes, I see your vision,
so beautiful and divine like an illusion,
I feel you passing so close to me
and I stretch out my arms, saying to you:
Take me with you to a better world,
what am I doing all alone with this pain,
you look at me, you kiss me, and taking flight,
I wake from a dream, how sad it is to dream.
At your step, the roses
spill their fragrance,
on the poet's harp
a madrigal trembles.
And the harsh nightingales
with Olympic arrogance
sing, sing your songs
in a passionate choir.
And the desolate hearts
that suffered what life holds,
the spasm of life,
this life that is pain.
When I see you so merciful
leaning towards the earth,
they bless you on their knees
like the redeeming angel.
