Estudiante Del Interior
Mario Bofill
Student from the Interior
I remember looking with my parents
For a place to stay, as I am from the interior,
I was starting my student life
And in elegant clothes I presented myself to the city,
I did return every week
As I still hadn't cut the umbilical cord,
The guys invited me to a gathering
And amidst shoves and signals, that night I went dancing,
And I found your honey eyes
The waterfront, your face in front of mine
Looking at me in your eyes and I found myself kissing you,
And nothing was ever the same again, I don't know what went through my head
I couldn't remember a single word and I slacked off at university
What a hangover, my god, but in the end it came... it was love.
I saw my father somewhat different
And I asked him softly if something was wrong,
He looked at my long hair
Because the Roman cut always suited you well,
He left on a weekend
Exactly when I wasn't there and the pain tore me apart,
The returns to my house became less frequent
His memory overwhelmed me and I cried in the boarding house,
And I found your honey eyes
I won't forget your hand in mine
We walked in silence and I saw myself kissing you,
And nothing was ever the same and the messes and signs came,
Banners and setbacks to my self-respect,
But in the end I'll have your honey eyes... it was love.
I remember arriving from my town
My little brother starting university,
The guys took him to a gathering
And amidst shoves and signals, that night he went dancing.
