Classe Média
Max Gonzaga
Middle Class
I'm middle class
Parrot of every newscast
I believe
In the impartiality of the weekly magazine
I'm middle class
I buy clothes and gasoline with my card
I hate 'collectives'
And I go by car that I bought in installments
I only pay taxes
I'm always at the limit of my overdraft
I travel little, at most a tri-annual package from CVC
But I don't care
If the drug dealer is the one in charge in the slum
I don't care
If people die or there's a flood in Itaquera
I just want the whole periphery to explode
But I get indignant with the state when I'm bothered
By the hungry beggar who reaches out to me
The soaped windshield
Is a camel, trinkets with candy
And the antics of the juggling artist at the traffic light
But if the robbery is in Moema
The murder is in the 'Jardins'
The executive's daughter is raped to the end
Then the media expresses its regressive opinion
Of implementing the death penalty, or reducing the age of criminal responsibility
And I, who am well-informed, agree and join the protest
While the audience and newspaper circulation increase
Because I don't care
If the drug dealer is the one in charge in the favela
I don't care
If people die or there's a flood in Itaquera
I just want the whole periphery to explode
I only care about a tragedy when it hits my doorstep
Because it's easier to condemn those who are already serving a life sentence
