One Day
On one day, everything will be alright
Like we never had to struggle at all
I can feel it deep inside, things are gonna change
Hearts will shift, things will rearrange
When I go back home, my situation will change
Get down on your knees, trust in freedom
You’ll give me strength
Jesus, you’re always with me, my life won’t end here
Where you are, you give me strength
You keep my mom safe at home
She believes we’ll make it
On one day, everything will be alright
Like we never had to struggle at all
I can feel it deep inside
Things are gonna change, things are gonna change
Hearts will shift
Thoughts spill out like ink on paper
They call out to the heart with a plea
One day, don’t expect this day to end
Don’t think about giving up, freedom, even if it seems like you’re not helped
Father, help me with my cry in this land, let them help us
I admit we’re sinners when we’re called to serve, let’s help
Even the moon will shine brighter, the pain will grow
Let’s not forget to pray to the Creator to send us an angel
You’re a great example for us
Mduduzi, you started by hitting the ground outside the home
Then you cried out to the ground that brought you to this home
We thank you, big Zulu, for believing in you and us
My brother, please don’t lose hope for the black community
It’s never easy to find our strength
We must start by looking back, reflecting on our past
In the past, there’s a future waiting for us
On one day, everything will be alright
Like we never had to struggle at all
I can feel it deep inside, things are gonna change
Things are gonna change, hearts will shift
We pray for hope, indeed, those who believe will be blessed
Those who are in despair because God sometimes lives
Like the essence of hope within them, I compare life
And the day breaks, it shines in the evening, it’s dark today
It’s like the weather, it’s unpredictable, but one day
Things will shine for me, things will change, I pray
Mom at home, it’s like the light has set for her
She’s prayed so much for this life we didn’t know yesterday
I learned and got my degree, but today
I live in the moment, writing my story
Even if I’m tested, I’m a witness that tomorrow
This poem will shine for the grandchildren of my generation
Who have lost hope, my Lord says even if
They look down at the world, they won’t dare
They’ll return evil for evil because they are
They’ll turn back into bad people, rewriting and copying what I wrote
On one day, everything will be alright
Like we never had to struggle at all
I can feel it deep inside, things are gonna change
Things are gonna change, hearts will shift.
