Tonada del Angelito
Melania Pérez
Angelito's Tune
A disheartened angel
Fell into the courtyard of my house
Like a ripe fig
Stripped of his wings
Unskied from his sky
The poor little angel walked
Without the bow and without the arrows
Angel of nothingness
You're the angel of the fig tree
I asked him politely
And in a dew of tears
He said, I am Cupid
Forgive me for the sadness
And for being so dispossessed
Because people don't love each other
I am an angel dismissed
I felt sorry for the sorrow
Of the wingless little angel
His sorrow was so deep
That seeing him cry, I cried
To bring him comfort
I sang old tunes
Until at dawn
He sang along to my singing
And as the day returned
His wings began to grow
Friend Jorge, I warn you
That love is not a fig
And for those feeling disheartened
Forgetfulness takes them away
If they feel their wings growing
Fly towards spring
