El Jangadero

The Riverboat
Through the Paraná River
The riverboat goes
Wood and song
Towards the border
Of the coast
Long dark pole searching
The belly of the river
In hands bronze and courage
Like a challenge
And in the eyes a hope
Like my song
The tide catches in the reeds
A scream of foam
When the river roars violently
Like an old puma
And the riverboat is a shadow
Lost in the mist
In the logs groans floating
An old sorrow
That coils in the riverboat
Like a snake
And hands bloom begging
There in the sands
