Que Diran Venideros

What Will Future Generations Say

Not quite like being soaked
I think that’s what you’d call it
When just a couple of shy drops
Barely fell after crying.
We weren’t doing well, I asked,
We’re not doing well, you replied
And we’re not going anywhere
Thinking of the happy times we had.
I’m looking for a bit more awareness
In every brother I see
Who’s a child of the land
Where sorrow has settled at our feet.
Because the history we make
Is written daily, and what will future generations say
When they’re left with the blame
That was inherited for being our children?
We even have a future
And we even have a place
We’ll have kids and brothers
And I’m not so foolish when I sing.
There’s always a path to follow, I know
And that sorrow never comes alone
But there will always be a word
Ready on my lips for courage.
I’m looking for a bit more awareness
In every brother I see
Who’s a child of the land
Where sorrow has settled at our feet.
Because the history we make
Is written daily, and what will future generations say
When they make a clear judgment
And point us out as their villains?
Why is it so hard
To march without the common yoke of the coward?
We’ll have the mandate
To hate every term used by the guilty.
How many lies are hidden
Calling themselves homeland, calling themselves Mexico.
I’m saying flag
To ask it to judge the people
And I’m looking for a bit more awareness
In every brother I see
Who’s a child of the land
Where sorrow has settled at our feet.
Because the history we make
Is written daily, and what will future generations say
I’m looking for my people
So they know how much I care for them.
