Corrido de Durango
Miguel Aceves Mejía
Ballad of Durango
In Durango it began
his career as a bandit
with every blow he struck
he disappeared.
Upon arriving in La Laguna
took station at Horizontes
since then they followed him
through the towns and mountains.
But one day in the northwest,
between Tirso and La Boquilla,
the forces of Pancho Villa were camped.
Francisco Villa shouted:
-I don't know fear.
Long live Pancho I. Madero!
Death to Pascual Orozco!
Francisco Villa shouted
on his dapple-gray horse
-In the bags I carry pesos
and in my waist, bullets.-
Where are you Francisco Villa?
renowned general!
who made them run
like deer.
With this, I bid farewell
in the shade of a peach tree
here I finish singing
the ballad of Durango.
