before your altar today I come pleading
to pray for the soul of my beloved
whom death so cruelly took from me.

I know that your power is infinite
that you are the same with the poor and the rich
and that is why I seek comfort in you
for this withered heart.

If I am asleep, I dream of her
if I am awake, I see her
and wherever I go
her memory goes with me.

I spend the nights crying
crying through the nights
for me, the sun does not shine
I wander among shadows.

Lord, eternal God
