Mi Cielo Huasteco
Miguel Aceves Mejía
My Huasteco Sky
The afternoon is dying,
The day is already agonizing. (repeat)
The papanes are getting restless
Throughout the mountains.
Walking, I go singing
To the waters of Quitanía.
I see that some birds
Are returning to their nests. (repeat)
Jumping among the thickets
Goes a proud deer.
And he searches the bushes
For his lost doe.
Under my Huasteco sky
Oh, one never feels boredom.
Huasteca always reminds me
Of its meadows and rivers.
If you arrive at those places,
You will hear our tunes,
With regional falsettos
That brighten the hearts.
Beautiful sugar cane fields there
On that side of the river. (repeat)
I also see banana plantations
On both sides in the shade.
Crossing pastures
Only in my huaco do I trust.
