No Hay Derecho
Miguel Aceves Mejía
No Right
I don’t know what’s come over me
I don’t know what you’ve done to me
All I know is there’s no right
To keep me from living free
Your eyes are stuck on me
Pierced right here in my chest
My heart has no right
To beat for your name, I confess.
Sometimes the winter sun
Burns us with its heat
Sometimes it’s a hell
The jealousy of our love, bittersweet.
You didn’t choose to love me
You don’t want me, and I won’t force you
Time is a good friend
It’ll tell me the reason too
Maybe to convince me
That a rock won’t soften
That a heart can’t be commanded
And there’s no saint without devotion.
I ask God for some calm
To help me forget this pain
If you’ve already stolen my soul
What more can you take away?
