Creci en un barrio
Miguel Inzunza
I grew up in a neighborhood
Walk as if you had never fallen
Respond as if you had never been hit
And bet as if you had never lost
Smile as if you had never cried
And dance as if no one was watching
Don't let fear fill your gaze
And money but pride comes first
Don't let poison fill your pockets
Because I grew up in a neighborhood
Where a sidewalk was a good stage
Because I grew up in a neighborhood
Where poverty was our outfit
Because I grew up in a neighborhood
Where a ball decided honor
And those who missed the goal paid for it
The beauty of my neighborhood ended up married
To the least expected fool on the block
And the fool on the block became a congressman
From what I see on TV, he's getting even
And dance as if no one is watching
Don't let fear fill your gaze
And money but pride comes first
Don't let poison fill your pockets
And life is not a lottery ticket
Good luck is not bought on street corners
Because I grew up in a neighborhood
Where poverty was our outfit
Because I grew up in a neighborhood
Where the sidewalk was a good stage
Because I grew up in a neighborhood
Where a ball decided honor
And those who missed the goal paid for it
Because I grew up in a neighborhood
Because I grew up in a neighborhood
Because I grew up in a neighborhood
Walk as if you had never fallen
Respond as if you had never been hit
