Paisagem da Janela
Milton Nascimento
Window Landscape
From the side window of the bedroom
I see a church, a sign of glory
I see a white wall and a bird in flight
I see a fence, an old sign
Natural messenger of natural things
When I spoke of these morbid colors
When I spoke of these sordid men
When I spoke of this storm
You didn't listen
You don't want to believe
But that's so normal
You don't want to believe
And I was just
A marginal knight washed in the stream
A black knight who lived mysteries
Knight and lord of house and trees
Without wanting rest or a Sunday off
A marginal knight bathed in the stream
I knew the towers and the cemeteries
I knew the men and their wakes
When I looked from the side window
Of the bedroom
You don't want to believe
But that's so normal
You don't want to believe
But that's so normal
A marginal knight
Bathed in the stream
You don't want to believe
