O Meu País

My Country
My country, it's green and misty
it's nostalgic and ancient, it's a people and a land
my country, farmer and sailor
it's a timeless corner, sleeping peacefully
Warming by the fireplace, there in the oak grove
laughs out loud
d a leaf in the wind, encouragement and discouragement
my country
My country, weaving its history
mill and stream, hiding its truth
my country greets the open sea
listens to the windward, and starts walking
Towards nameless goals, rows of men go
endlessly
sad fields from somewhere, journeys to nowhere
my country
My country on winter nights
draws its agony, in an old man and a young boy
my country of legends and witchcraft
awaits new days, moving slowly
Through the valleys and inheritances
a hope is born and dies, in the future
and a leaf in the wind, encouragement and discouragement
my country.
