Aquela Parede
Mococa e Paraíso
That Wall
I found the wall of the old dwelling
All scribbled with chalk and charcoal
I remembered the brothers from our little group
And our dear mother teaching the lesson
Wall that dad always repainted
Mom made an effort for us to learn
If you scrape the paint, underneath it appears
Onion with S and frog with C
That wall was our blackboard
We were thirsty to read and write
Because I recognized my handwriting
And I laughed so hard at what I could read
Four times four in front eighteen
And ten minus eight there was three
Now grown up, experiencing life
I see the innocence that time undid
