O Insulto Me Partiu o Coração
Monges da Abadia da Ressurreição
The Insult Broke My Heart
The insult broke my heart
I couldn't bear it, I fainted from so much pain
I hoped someone would take pity on me
But it was in vain, as I couldn't find anyone
I sought relief and found none
They gave me gall as if it were food
In my thirst, they offered me vinegar
Lord, hear me for your grace is gentle
Look upon me with great love
Do not hide your face from your servant
How I suffer! Answer me quickly
The insult broke my heart
I couldn't bear it, I fainted from so much pain
I hoped someone would take pity on me
But it was in vain, as I couldn't find anyone
I sought relief and found none
They gave me gall as if it were food
In my thirst, they offered me vinegar
For our God hears the prayer of the poor
And does not despise the cry of the captives
Let the heavens and earth glorify the Lord
With the sea and all creatures living in them
The insult broke my heart
I couldn't bear it, I fainted from so much pain
I hoped someone would take pity on me
But it was in vain, as I couldn't find anyone
I sought relief and found none
They gave me gall as if it were food
In my thirst, they offered me vinegar
