Equality
I just beg for equality to live, doc
In my Brazil
That the black man built
Injustice comes from the streets to the slums
There's discrimination for real
They show up in postcards
In billboards, the bourgeoisie reveals to us
That the poor from the slums have a criminal instinct
And when my people go down to work
They ask God to protect them
From these illegal folks, doc
Who mistreat us and pretend not to know
That the war in the slums is a social problem
I'm not a criminal
I just beg for equality to live, doc
In my Brazil
That the black man built
Injustice wears a white collar
Wears shoes and clogs, buys whatever they want
Has a limousine, airplane, BMW
Buys their immunity just to act in bad faith
Meanwhile, the slum dwellers keep suffering
And here I am writing
And singing my pain, doc
Indignant with so much corruption
That mistreats the innocent and eases the thief
With that damn corruption scandal
I just beg for equality to live, doc
In my Brazil
That the black man built
