Lenda do Pégaso

Legend of Pegasus
Once upon a time, can you believe it, a little ugly bird
Who didn’t know what he was, or where he came from
So he lived, lived dreaming of being what he wasn’t
Flying, flying with the wings, wings of a chimera
He dreamed of being a seagull because she’s beautiful and everyone notices
And in that pretentious mood, he wanted to be a hawk
And when he was happy, happy, to be the mysterious partridge
And look, then, what a shame when he wanted to be the sacred stork
And with scattered wishes, he dreamed of being a lovely heron
And in a moment of disillusion, he just wanted to be a toucan
And there was that, that commotion when he wanted to be a hummingbird
That’s when they stepped on his toes and then he crowed like a rooster
He dreamed of the mud house, the one of the clay builder, and he felt sad
So sad just like you, wanting to be the sinister vulture
And when he wanted to cause a stir, he would imitate the dark crow
And to this day, they still debate if it’s true he turned into a buzzard
And when he was longing for that peace of the thrushes
Tired of living in the shadows, flying, soaring like a lovely dove
And feeling the lack of a great affection
Then he sang like a canary
And so the ugly little bird wanted to be even a carrier pigeon
Then God came and said: Take your sorrows
Take your sorrows and erase them, have the pride of eagles
God also said: It’s all blue, and the ugly little bird
Turned into the flying horse, this so-called Pegasus
