A Professora e o Vagabundo
Moreno e Moreninho
The Teacher and the Drifter
Whoever sees that poorly dressed guy
Clowning around with the kids
Didn’t know that back in his prime
He had a beautiful love, indeed
That girl was his teacher
Who taught him lessons every day
He learned every subject with care
But to her, he gave his heart away
He declared his love to the teacher
As a mentor, she explained it clear
Saying he was just a child
And shouldn’t have those feelings here
That student never came back to school
Heartbroken over his lovely crush
With the chalk he took home each day
He wrote her name on the sidewalk, hush
He became a drifter through the city streets
Throwing away his rich youth
Long hair, poorly dressed, and a drunk
Little by little, he lost his health, the truth
One day they found him dead, alone
And the rest of the poison he drank
On the sidewalk, in chalk, it was written
That his teacher changed his fate, he sank
