A Professora e o Vagabundo
Moreno e Moreninho
The Teacher and the Drifter
Whoever sees that poorly dressed guy
Clowning around with the kids
Had no idea that back in his prime
He had a beautiful love, his heart's bid
That girl was his teacher
Who taught him lessons every day
He learned every subject with care
But to her, he gave his heart away
He declared his love to the teacher
As a mentor, she made it clear
Saying he was just a kid
And shouldn't have those feelings near
That student never came back to school
Heartbroken over his lovely crush
With the chalk he took home each day
He wrote her name on the sidewalk, in a rush
He became a drifter on the streets
Throwing away his rich youth
Long hair, shabby clothes, and a drunkard
Little by little, he lost his health, uncouth
One day they found him dead
And the rest of the poison he drank
On the sidewalk, in chalk, it read
That his teacher changed his fate, a cruel prank
