Reviewing My Steps

It all started in a simple way,
I wanted to have the best kicks, be the leader of my crew,
The seed bore fruit in front of a sewer,
and so the dream dominated the nightmare.
I was just a restless boy, a rough diamond,
In my school, I sought to earn respect,
Happy times were the classrooms of Jorge Juan,
Hip hop entered my life and grabbed me like a magnet.
Soon I started to rhyme and grab tapes,
My brothers laughed at my looks, but I didn't care,
I dreamed of being an MC, Beastie Boys, Pabli Kenemi, Randy Mc,
'92 was just the beginning.
Although my ugly raps were vices,
The lyrics in my notebooks already filled the whole place,
San Blas was the neighborhood, my sanctuary,
I played basketball daily at the racetrack next to the stadium.
Basketball and rap were my life,
I carried my walkman and my ball wherever I went,
Every Saturday I returned to my friend Tito's house,
In you, my rap will be more than a ritual.
That's how I bit this hook and started shaving my head,
while dreaming of the latest model Jordans,
booze, rap battles, '93 the age of bronze,
everything was so different back then.
It was a slow process, I trusted my talent,
I wanted to record demos, it was inside me,
With my brother's piano and a karaoke radio,
The first surprised were my block mates.
Later came the duke and added his touch,
'94 DB was just the first focus.
It's the review of my steps and my life.

[Chorus]

And so I had fun and laughed as I lived,
I knew what I was doing even though many didn't understand,
So the days went by and I grew up,
Looking for my place like a phone in the CIA.
It's what I saw, lived, rap was in me,
I discovered it, felt happy to be here at last,
I just review the steps I saw,
among brothers, dreams, and basketball games I grew up.

Although many don't care, Alicante was my scene,
south zone, north zone, and my texts my sport,
I was the typical dude who did his own thing,
some criticized me for not being in the thick of it.
Bad faces and disputes, Madrid Zona Bruta,
opened the future to our rap, and that's indisputable,
9.6 my first gig, no DJs or choruses,
I hit play on a cassette and went out alone.
It was pure fun, competition, and message,
they called me for concerts without paying for the trip,
tricks arrived in '97, improving was basic,
songs like 'Slaves' came out of there, they're a classic.
I landed in Seville, good stuff was made there,
SFDK, La Alta Escuela, Expresion en conserva,
with Nerviozzo and Zatu, the style patrol,
it was the first time I saw my rap on vinyl and I tripped.
I kept writing without being an expert,
in every line, every pass, waiting for my moment,
I signed with Montemar, I wanted to conquer the world,
my scoring record 48 points.
I'll never forget that time,
'98, '99, I was still here honing my talent,
zero percent was my first label, a lie,
it was my first disappointment and first explosion of anger.
I escaped from there, looked for other paths,
while creating theories about the brevity of days,
Fran was my man, the only one who understood me,
my manager and my buddy, I don't know where I'd be without him.
