The Sidewalk of Kolkata
The sidewalk of Kolkata isn't so tough
if it's part of the past among the trash
the wounds and the sentence.
For my mother, there's no cure
for the madness that brings the pain.
Chorus:
We left by plane
with a blanket, four apples,
the memories and the hope.
Up there I understood
that in space there are no castes
and the blankets are already there.
We appeared in Spain.
On the way, I didn't see cows, running water,
clear water, bed and warmth,
I'm darker than the others
and they look at me closely.
Chorus.
The sidewalk of Kolkata
isn't so bad
to know that the fridge
always ready wasn't always
what it is now.
The sidewalk of Kolkata
isn't so bad to learn
that in the trash grow
the most beautiful flowers to pick.
