The Satire
They say the storm has calmed down;
we will try to sleep.
At our feet, iodine and bandages
remind us of the way.
And you want to know if upon waking up,
drenched to the bone,
something might have changed,
and I don't want to lie.
Arriving here, what else can happen to us?
We can go and ask the sea
to respond with roars,
to tell us the truth.
And tell me, if the sun has risen and it's not for both of us,
then for whom?
Or if today the wind doesn't howl for both of us,
then for whom?
How can I love you right
if I am my own enemy?
And how to start over
when there's so much yesterday here, in me?
And now say, what else can happen to us?
We can go and ask the sea
to respond with roars,
to tell us the truth.
And they may tell you that in love
there's always a loser,
and that in love
there's always a winner.
But listen to me, I was there
and I know there are only survivors.
Let them talk, I prefer to hear
the things from the sea.
Arriving here, what else can happen to us?
We can go and ask the sea.
And now say, what else can happen to us?
We can go and ask the sea
to respond with roars
and tell us the truth
and above all
to be able to move forward
under the same scorching sun
with the judgments we still have to lose,
with the salt stuck to our skin,
like Jonah in the belly of the great fish,
with seaweed and stones,
with all the water we swallowed while swimming,
with the lies on which I had the audacity to swear.
I played at being bad and came face to face with evil.
I played at being bad and came face to face with evil.
May Captain Ahab forgive me,
may he forgive me.
They say the storm has calmed down.
