In the Deadly Thirst
I already have one too many drinks, here in The Deadly Thirst, when Dodó enters. And I don't move from here, and yet I will have to come to the conclusion that there is no one more guilty than me - nor will there be - on earth. And I start asking like this:
For the things I feel and for those I hate feeling;
for my bad head;
because my skull, she, won't stop laughing;
for the new moons;
for the mixed up things that turn inside me;
for six years of sorrows
and for things that I don't even dare to say;
forgive my always cold feet;
for last night, and the one before, and that one too;
forgive the Great Nonsense;
for wanting to understand it and, above all, for not understanding...
Forgive.
And Dodó watches me, and I hear him pray like this:
-Forgive for existing-.
And I kindly invite Dodó for a whiskey, and he tells me that even dogs get sad after ejaculating. Then, we leave arm in arm from The Deadly Thirst, and that's when I can swear that there is no one more guilty than me - nor will there be - on earth. And
for two thousand years of Christianity;
for daring to feed and breathe;
for the gifted ones;
for the pot-bellied man and for sexual liberation;
for the Italian circus;
for the old man who waves a napkin while speaking
and swears to me that in it
he has solved the mystery of the Holy Trinity;
forgive the modern people;
because I run the risk of looking at myself and losing my mind;
forgive me, for God's sake!;
for the great decadence of a life asking for forgiveness;
forgive the four elements;
for the earth and the water and the fire and the pollution;
forgive all my complaints;
for Dodó and, finally, I ask you for this song...
Forgive.
And I look at your lips, and I hear everyone asking
forgiveness for existing.
