Etcétera
Nacho Vegas
Etcetera
I sing this for a sky
made entirely of metal
today the ground opens at my feet
deep cracks like the sea.
I will love you for the beauty
hidden inside you.
I will love you for the health that guesses
a certain gray skin;
a certain sour breath;
it's already day and
terror has settled here.
No one to love
is
no one to harm,
etcetera.
Dying of thirst
but for once
no one dies by my side.
And I wonder on days like today
how many there are and where they are,
and I am amazed at how capable I am
of enduring ad nauseam.
And I contemplate in the mirror
the scales of my skin,
and I pray to shed this skin,
and I pray to escape
far away from here,
far away from me,
skin turning gray.
What will they say about me
if they see me like this?
I could cry
but I'm going to laugh.
No one to love,
no one to harm,
etcetera.
I will die of thirst
but for once
no one will die by my side.
