Curse

Ezequiel, it was a big mistake to just come back. It was too soon and people find it hard to forget. Ezequiel takes a deep breath as he gets off the train. It's strange, no one is waiting on the platform. A brief intuition: something smells like a curse. But he heads to the house where he grew up.
And he talks to his mother: -It's me, mother, can't you see?- Mother says: -Forget that I ever gave birth to you-. And he talks to his father: -Father, what's happening here?- Father doesn't answer; he just curses. Ezequiel goes to the bar; someone will explain. But everyone is silent, everyone is silent when they see him enter.
They say he did something and no one ever forgot it, but he can't remember it and his whole life was reduced to a curse with the passing years. Ezequiel, you better leave at night and without bothering.
Ezequiel hides by the train tracks. He needs an answer to not go crazy. What happened one dark summer in his hometown that people don't even dare to mention? At dawn, he goes to wash in a pond nearby, and it's in his reflection where he finds all the truth. Ezequiel stares at the water with a look of horror. In his face, he finds the face of the curse. He reaches the depths of his eyes, where there is no light. He can see his soul and goes even deeper. He becomes aware of the evil and his scream sounds like that of a broken man discovering the animal inside.
They say he did something, something no one forgot, but he can't remember it and his whole life was reduced to a curse with the passing years. Ezequiel, you better leave at night and without bothering.
Ezequiel starts to flee, no one will miss him. He runs north, guided by the smell of salt. The Cantabrian Sea shows itself in all its splendor. He undresses and slowly moves towards the sun. And he decides to rest under the gray cloak of the sea. The waves rock him and he sleeps eternally like an old tsar.
They say he did something and no one ever forgot it, but he couldn't remember it and his whole life was reduced to a curse. And now he awaits Judgment for ages and ages. Ezequiel, rest in peace at the bottom of the sea.
