Monomania
I need to keep moving
now that I see you again, far from me.
But there’s no bar open anymore
and all my friends have gone to sleep.
And so I start to spin a tale
of what’s to come
when things go downhill.
And I see myself almost the same as now
with nothing left
but the certainty of pain.
Or I’ll find myself shouting one day:
-You can go on with your life
and I’ll keep living mine, if they let me.-
Well, everything went as planned
and now I’ve got a purple scar on my forearm,
and that twisted desire still lingers in me.
No one gets this far unless it’s to keep going.
But if by chance
I hear you’re in town
and someone introduces us someday,
then I won’t let on what’s true:
I still love you
and I’ve never stopped loving you.
Or I’ll find myself shouting one day:
-You can go on with your life
and I’ll keep living mine, if they let me.-
Or I’ll find myself shouting one day:
-Enough with the nonsense!-
And with my life, if you let me, I’ll keep going.
