Der Mond Ist Aufgegangen
NENA
The Moon Has Risen
The moon has risen
The golden stars are shining
In the sky, bright and clear
The forest stands dark and silent
And from the meadows rises
The white mist, so wonderful
How quiet the world is
And in the twilight's cover
So cozy and so sweet
Like a peaceful chamber
Where you should sleep off the day's troubles
And forget them all
Do you see the moon up there?
It's only half in view
Yet it's round and beautiful
So there are many things
That we can laugh at freely
Because our eyes can't see them
We proud children of man
Are vain, poor sinners
And don’t know much at all
We spin air-spun dreams
And seek many arts
And drift further from the goal
God, let us see your grace
Trust in nothing fleeting
Not to be pleased by vanity
Let us be simple-hearted
And here on earth before you
Be like children, pious and joyful
