The birds no longer sing over Verdun
In the nights, the
Booms are heard
The cries are still heard
When the winds blow furiously

Thousands of graves are the reminder
Of something I don't understand
Don't walk through Verdun
Death still lurks

Almost a million dead
In a single battle
Eighty years ago
No one remembers Verdun
The grandparents still cry
Battles from hell
The governments' game
No one remembers Verdun

They, young ones, like you, like me
Are now restless souls
Alive, they dreamed of peace
But war killed them

This is not a tale
I don't make anything up here
The history is harsh
But not silent

And I think war
Is the worship of ignorance
Because the third one is already looming
And no one realizes
