El Bardo
Nicho Hinojosa
The Bard
A poor bard fell in love
with a girl, from society
It was his life, that of the poor clown
who laughed, with a desire to cry.
Behind her the poor bard followed
collecting in the orchids
that his love gave him
and the girl who knew nothing
that the bard adored her
married another.
And they say that one moonlit night
under a blanket of stars the troubadour died
and those who knew him say
that night the sorrows of a love were heard.
The girl when she learned the story
the true story of the poor troubadour
crying in her madness she said
today bitterness kills me
because I loved him too.
What a pity,
because he didn't tell me
if I had known
I would be all his today.
