Deserto da Vida
Niquésia Santos
Desert of Life
I look ahead and see a road
That seems to have no end
I'll have to cross it
This terrible desert!
And this is the road of my life
This desert of anguish, my suffering
The wind blows hard and the dust
But I won't fade away!
The Sun is scorching, I'm tired
Gasping, carrying my cross
The stones, the thorns hurt me
Jesus relieves my pains!
Sometimes the cross is so heavy
Little by little I start to bend
If I can't walk anymore with bleeding feet
I'll get there on my knees!
The road is always full of surprises
And anything can happen on it
If the Sun is burning my face
But it might even rain!
Sometimes I even lack the Simon of Cyrene
To help me walk with this cross
If, walking, I don't reach the end
I'll arrive in Jesus' arms!
