Barrabás
Nívea Silva
Barrabas
In the back of a cold cell, it was just me and my loneliness
Joy had left, I was waiting for the execution
Tears streaming down my face as I reflected on my sins
I found myself in a dead end, 'cause throughout my life, I did everything wrong
There I was, suffering and desperate, when a soldier showed up
He took off my chains and said to me
You’re gonna escape death, it’s your lucky day, you can go
And he said, go in peace
You don’t have any reason to stay
Another person will die in your place
I was the criminal, and He was without sin
I was being set free, He was being condemned
I was the wickedness, and He was without malice
I was the lie, and He was the truth
I was in full-on war, He brought me peace
He was Jesus Christ, and I was Barrabas
