Comienzo El Día
Noel Nicola
Starting the Day
It's so early and you're already waking me,
you won't let me sleep, something's going on.
With my eyes closed, I search for the window
to see you while I open them.
I tell you that you're beautiful like never before,
just like that, with your hair still messy.
We tumble down in a kiss off the bed
and I feel like you're alive by some miracle.
I start the day, just like it's nothing,
pressed against your chest, asking for coffee and love.
I start the day, still dazed,
the sounds seem distant at this hazy hour.
Outside, people are doing their thing to live,
outside, people want to find out,
outside, people talk about love,
outside, they're calling me.
I start the day, and before you even speak to me
I've already made a thousand promises I won't keep.
I start the day and when I look outside
I feel a wave of dizziness and have to sit down.
Outside, life has just begun,
outside, everything has to change,
outside, wolves are still wolves,
outside, you have to go out armed.
I want to give my day to those who dream,
to those who bake bread in the early morning,
to those who stack stones on stones,
to those who keep you so awake.
I start the day, I secure the keys,
I check my pockets for coins.
I start the day and still behind the door,
I ask you for a strong kiss to step out into the sun.
Outside, they're commenting on the TV,
outside, the union is debating a law,
outside, the homeland is about to explode,
outside, they're calling me,
and I'm going.
