Fado do Cacilheiro
Nuno da Câmara Pereira
Ferryboat Fado
When I was a young boy
I took with me in the boat
A daring fishwife
I maneuvered and liked her
And there I docked with her
For the rest of my life
Sometimes in a person
Age doesn't forgive
Makes the heart beat
But I have great pride
In living the youth
Within this generation
I'm a sailor
Of this old ferryboat
Dedicated companion
Small cradle of the people
And sailing
Age was coming
Oh... Hair turning white
But the Tagus is always new
Everyone lives on a street
That they always call their own
But I don't envy them here
My neighborhood is on the waters
That sing their sorrows
And my street is the Tagus
One moonlit night
I was sailing
And standing at the bow
I saw or maybe dreamed
That the arms of Christ the King
Were embracing Lisbon
I'm a sailor
Of this old ferryboat
Dedicated companion
Small cradle of the people
And sailing
Age was coming
Oh... Hair turning white
But the Tagus is always new
