On the Hearth
On the hearth burns a little fire,
And in the room it's warm.
And the rabbi teaches little children
the alphabet.
See, children,
remember, dear ones, what you learn here.
Say it once again and then once more:
"Comets-alef: o!"
Learn, children, learn with joy,
learn the alphabet.
Happy is the Jew who knows the Torah
and the alphabet.
