Silencio
Omara Portuondo
Silence
Sleep in my garden
the white lilies, the tuberoses and the roses,
My soul very sad and sorrowful
to the flowers wants to hide its bitter pain.
I don't want the flowers to know
the torments that life gives me.
If they knew what I am suffering
they would cry for my sorrows too.
Silence, they are sleeping
the tuberoses and the lilies.
I don't want my sorrows to be known
because if they see me crying they will die.
