Yo Estoy Desengañado
Orlando Contreras
I Am Disillusioned
Disillusioned with bars and taverns,
with so much hypocrisy, with so much falsehood,
with friends who claim to be friends,
with women who lie when they kiss,
what it means to be poor, what it means to have money,
that experience is acquired much more there.
I raise my glass in triumph to my experience,
which is not learned in school or at home,
that is learned on the street, in the tavern,
glass after glass under the musical background,
from the record player that tells you so many things,
and from the lips that lie to you when kissing.
