A Friend of Mine 1
From my own hand I took him to my house
And I told her he was a friend of mine
And my wife always said there is a glass
For whoever calls my husband a friend
I was never surprised, not a guilty gesture
Nor a betraying voice, until I saw it
With my own eyes, I didn't believe it
A friend of mine, whom I once took to the altar
A friend of mine in my own house came to steal from me
I don't feel anger, but bitterness
Of a chill, poisoning me
With dirty lies, with my own wife
And a friend of mine.
To make him leave, I opened the door
Go and don't even remember my name
And I noticed on his face the guilty expression
Of one who trades gold for melted bronze
Last night she saw him, with a pale face without blood
Why didn't she cry, I kept silent the phrase I was going to say
A friend of mine, whom I once took to the altar
A friend of mine in my own house came to steal from me
I don't feel anger, but bitterness
Of a chill, poisoning me
With dirty lies, with my own wife
And a friend of mine.
