Out in the field, among the sheep, there was a boy with a harp in his hands
He feared the Lord, and sang praises to the God of Abraham
Every time he played, God rejoiced from the highest heavens
And receiving his praise, God called him to be king of Israel
His humble heart reached grace and wisdom, and clothed with power he could
Defeat the giant Goliath, strumming his harp, every evil spirit
Fled away, for if you praise God sincerely even sadness leaps for joy
Play, boy David, play another song, no one can resist the strumming
Of your hands, play for God wants to hear, beautiful psalms of victory, for
All who praise God have hope to dwell in glory
God the great creator is the winner of all wars
His loving gaze always turned to the faithful of the earth
Where there is humility, God has freedom to operate
For the Lord of lords, amidst the praises He always is
Praise the name of the Lord, sing with love David's psalms
Be a faithful believer that from the highest heavens God will hear you
Exalt His Holy name through the song He taught you
Take your instrument and praise God as David praised
